Concrete Patios on Oahu

On Oahu, a patio is not a seasonal luxury, it is living space you use all year. We design and pour concrete patios that are comfortable underfoot, simple to maintain, and built to handle island sun, salt, and rain.

What's included

Professional Concrete Patios

Custom patio design and layout

We lay out the patio around how you will use it: grilling, dining, a sitting area under shade, or a full backyard gathering space.

Stamped and decorative patios

Stone, tile, and wood-plank stamp patterns with integral color, so you get a high-end look with concrete durability.

Lanai and patio extensions

Extend an existing lanai or slab outward. We tie new concrete to old correctly, with doweled connections and matched elevations.

Patio replacement

If your current patio is cracked, settled, or holding water, we remove it and pour a new one on a properly compacted base.

Steps, borders, and seat walls

Integrated steps, decorative borders, and low block seat walls that make the patio feel finished, not just flat.

Drainage done right

Patios pitched away from the house, with drains where the yard needs them, so heavy rain never ends up at your back door.

Our Process

How your project comes together

1

Design and estimate

We meet at your home, talk through the layout and finish, measure the space, and give you a clear, free estimate.

2

Layout and excavation

We mark the footprint, excavate to the right depth, and set grades so the finished patio drains away from the house.

3

Base and reinforcement

Compacted aggregate base and steel reinforcement so the slab stays flat and tight through years of use.

4

Pour and finish

Poured, screeded, and finished in one operation. Stamped patios get patterned and detailed while the concrete is at exactly the right set.

5

Seal and cure

Decorative work gets a UV-stable sealer suited to full Hawaii sun, and we walk you through cure times before furniture goes back out.

Built for the island

Outdoor living, Hawaii style

Most mainland patio advice assumes a winter off-season. Oahu patios work every week of the year, which means finishes need to handle constant UV, surfaces need grip when passing showers roll through, and drainage has to move real water during kona storms.

We build for that reality: sealers rated for tropical sun, textures that stay comfortable barefoot, and slopes that clear water fast. It is the difference between a patio that looks good at handoff and one that still looks good five years in.

FAQ

Concrete Patios: Your Questions Answered

How thick should a concrete patio be?

Four inches is the standard for residential patios, with steel reinforcement and a compacted base underneath. If the patio will carry heavy features like a masonry kitchen or hot tub, we thicken the slab in those areas.

Stamped concrete or pavers, which is better?

Stamped concrete gives you a continuous, low-maintenance surface with no joints for weeds or shifting, which matters on Oahu's soils. Pavers can be repaired piece by piece but need ongoing attention. We are happy to talk through both at the estimate.

How long before I can use my new patio?

Foot traffic is fine after about 24 to 48 hours. Give it about a week before dragging heavy furniture back on, and we will confirm timing for your specific pour and finish.

Can you extend my existing lanai?

Yes, lanai and slab extensions are some of our most common projects. We dowel the new slab into the old one and match elevations so the transition is clean and the two pours move together.

Do patios need to be sealed in Hawaii?

Decorative and colored patios should be sealed with a UV-stable product and resealed every few years to keep the color true. Plain broom-finish patios can go unsealed, though sealing helps with stains and salt exposure near the coast.

Do you build patios with seat walls or fire features?

Yes. Low hollow tile seat walls, planter borders, and pads engineered for fire tables or built-in grills are common additions. Designing them into the original pour, rather than adding them later, keeps the finishes matched and the total cost lower.

Do patios need permits on Oahu?

Most open-air residential patios do not, though covered structures and attached lanai roofs usually involve the City and County of Honolulu. We confirm what your specific project needs at the estimate, before any work is scheduled.
